I would like to start this month by sharing the exciting news that #TeamPelican have been named as a finalist in the Customer Excellence category at the Business Leader Awards held on 27th September at Ashton Gate Stadium! This is fantastic recognition for our amazing team who work incredibly hard to ensure our customers receive first class, memorable experiences every time they contact us. I am looking forward to celebrating the evening with a number of team members from across our business and I look forward to sharing the result with you all next month. Best of luck to all of the finalists!

On the theme of providing amazing service, I feel extremely proud looking at our Live Chat report for August where 97% of our customers had their queries resolved the first time they contacted us. I really enjoy reading through the comments left by our customers and I would love to share a few of my favourites with you:

This is the first time I have used the live chat with you and it was a pleasure dealing with your agent Jennifer. She was able to action my request and was very polite.

Excellent service from Shirley and my problem was resolved really quickly. Fantastic to be able to speak to someone and clear the query up immediately. Would highly recommend.

Honestly you are the best customer service I have encountered, the truth. You are all super cool, but Jordan is awesome and should be given a huge bonus and given a seat on the board

Nice and easy without being on the phone pressing options 1 then 2 and then 1 and then 3 and then 6 or 10.  Problem sorted with Paul without any difficulties.

Sam was very helpful/efficient and dealt with the issue in a very professional manner.

A big thank you to of our fantastic Live Chat team members who always go above and beyond to assist our customers #Proud.

August saw Pelican take to the outdoors with our alfresco themed month as our Health and Wellbeing committee planned activities for us to make the most of the beautiful weather we’ve been having. We’ve taken our team meetings outside when possible and our annual ‘picnic in the park’ took place where team members from across the business got together to share a bite to eat and engage in a little friendly competition.

Members of the team also took part in the local running event ‘401 Festival of Running’ across the 25th and 26th of August in Portishead. The festival hosted a range of different races for all ages and abilities across the two days, from 500m all the way up to a half marathon.  The 401 Foundation helps to fund local organisations which focus on building confidence and self-esteem in individuals with the aim of tackling mental health and self-development issues.

In community news, the team have been working incredibly hard to raise money for our current quarterly charity of the year, Ronald McDonald House Bristol who provide a safe and comfortable place for families of sick children to stay whilst receiving medical care away from home. September is already jam packed with fundraising ideas and I can’t wait to share an update with you all on how we get on. A team of dedicated team members from our Credit team has also signed up to take a day out of the business to visit the charity and offer their services in any way they can. I have been assured that they will have plenty of jobs to get stuck into by the time they arrive in October!

I also want to take this opportunity to thank the team for their efforts in raising a huge £715.22 last quarter for Headway Bristol.

The team were thrilled to receive a lovely certificate of appreciation from Headway Bristol which is now proudly displayed in our staff canteen!
