June brought not only glorious sunshine to #TeamPelican but also some fantastic examples of our dedicated team providing some outstanding service to our customers. We regularly celebrate our successes throughout our business but I would love to share some of my favourites with you.

I would like to start with our #expert live chat team. Our live chat service ensures we offer our customers another way to easily get in touch to resolve their queries. To make sure we are providing the best possible experience to customers, we needed to have a team in place that was dedicated to providing this. Each month I receive a full report of every comment left by our customers following a live chat and I would love to share a few with you:

Jennifer was just brilliant, answered my questions within seconds

Roxanne was extremely helpful. Answered my questions in a succinct and polite manner. Good representative of your company and of what type of experience a customer wants.

Samantha was very prompt and gave information about a query outside of her departments knowledge base. Thank you.

Amazing service, Dave was super helpful and gave me all the information I required.

Continuing on the theme of excellent service and I was so proud to read a letter we received for a member of the team following some expert support he provided to one of our customers.

I wanted to write to you to express my gratitude of the service I have received from your colleague Derek.

Derek used his common sense to ensure things progressed correctly, he was always very polite, explained the situation to the best of his ability and over communicated throughout the whole process which left me feeling great comfort in a time that can be very stressful at best.

I have been in business for over 20 years and when you meet someone with the customer services skills that Derek has you know he’s a keeper.

Please ensure you look after this one as he’s a credit to your organisation.

Moving on and recognition comes in many forms and this month a member of our team even had the royal seal of approval! Mark from our Meter Reading team was recently invited to attend the queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace. The lord lieutenant of Somerset, Mrs Annie Maw, asked Mark a few months ago if he would like to attend due to him volunteering a lot of his spare time to the Volunteer Police Cadets.

Mark was even approached by HRH The Duke Of Cambridge’s personal assistant to ask if he would be interested in personally meeting Prince William. Prince William was very keen to hear about the Police cadets and all of the amazing work they have done.

A huge well done to Mark on receiving this well deserved recognition for amazing work out in our community. #Proud

While on the theme of being proud, our ‘Pride Patrol’ held their last planning meeting this month in preparation for Bristol Pride on 14th July.They also had the chance to try on their stylish pride attire!


Last year over 35,000 people visited Bristol Pride with 7,000 people taking part in the march to celebrate the LGBTQ community. Pride is a chance to come and be yourself and show your support to loved ones, family and friends. Pride is loud, colourful, vibrant and above all, FUN; and this year, we are extremely excited to be part of it.

Finally this month and the world cup came to Pelican Towers and the team have been busy decorating their departments in celebration. Our Health and Wellbeing team were hard at work planning lots of fun events throughout the month all in aid of raising funds for our quarterly charity, Headway Bristol. June is our final month raising money for Headway Bristol and I look forward to being able to share the total amount the team have raised over the last three months!

June has certainly been a busy one for the team and I can’t wait to share with you all what July has in store for us.
