Every single member of the team at Pelican strives to provide the most memorable experience to our customers and December certainly wasn’t any different.
I’d like to start with a couple of shout outs for our field based team. Although they do not often have direct contact with our customers, they are the face of our business and hearing of examples like the ones below makes me extremely proud that our team go above and beyond to help our community.
My first shout out goes to Stuart from our Chippenham Meter Reading team who, while out on his rounds, found an elderly lady whose battery has run out on her electric wheelchair while going up a hill. Stuart pushed the lady to the top of the hill and all the way home to make sure she got back safe and sound.
With another shout out to our Meter Reading team, I want to say a big thank you to Rich who recently witnessed a traffic accident in which a girl was badly injured. Rich called the ambulance and stayed with the girl until it arrived. He spent the evening speaking with the police and assisting where he could. The girl’s father even got in touch to say he wants to meet Rich to say thank you personally.
What fantastic examples of really going the extra mile and showing true human kindness #Proud
Next up and our internal customer services team who have been busy assisting our customers on live chat. We receive so many lovely comments from our customers every month and I’d like to share a few of my favourites:
For customer service, you have to be the best in the utilities field. You’re online chat service is brilliant. I am hearing impaired and can’t use my hearing aids at present. I’ve had a really good, professional response today. Thank you so much.
Always very easy and straightforward to deal with you. All issues have been resolved smoothly and quickly – very happy!
Miles, on live chat was extremely helpful and informative. Thank you for an excellent service and a brilliant agent!
Thank you and well done to Jennifer, Will and Miles for making our customer journey as straight forward and memorable as possible.
Moving onto Health and Well-being and the cold weather certainly didn’t stop our team getting out and about as they held their annual Christmas Lunchtime Santa Walk. The team were out in force braving the chilly December winds to get in that last minute exercise before being consumed with chocolate and Christmas dinners!
Our Running Club also held its Illuminated Santa Run with everyone making a huge effort with their attire. They ran just over 5k, whilst taking in the best of the Christmas Lights. A big thank you to Ben and Liz who have kept our running club going all year long.
Finally in Health and Well-being news our hiking club were back at it battling the elements to complete another epic mission. Meeting on the dam, our explorers completed a 10 mile circuit around Blagdon Lake, up Ubley Drove and onto Beacon Batch, the highest point on the Mendips.
I’d like to finish this month with some amazing examples of our team out and about helping to support our local community.
First up and a thank you goes to our finance team who utilised our Community Involvement Scheme by packing Christmas hampers for Clevedon Foodbank which were handed out in in the surrounding areas to people most in need this Christmas. #Proud
In other community news, a big thank you to everyone that sported their festive knitwear for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day. I am pleased to announce that the team raised a fantastic £247.92 for this amazing cause and it was great to see everyone getting into the festive spirit!
Well, that’s all from me for 2017. I look forward to sharing what the team get up to in January as we hit the ground running in 2018!
Happy New Year!
