During September we collected the results from our quarterly ISay survey where our expert team had the opportunity to provide feedback on what they love about Pelican and how we can be an even better place to work. It was fantastic to read all the positive comments around why our people love working at Pelican. The real ‘stand outs’ from the survey were our Health and Wellbeing initiative we run throughout the year, recognising our people when they have ‘stood out from the crowd’ and our commitment to developing our team members and supporting flexible working.
Something that is always at the forefront of my mind is the service we provide to our customers and every week our leadership team give out our coveted WOW awards to individuals who have really brought the WOW to our customers! Every month I choose from our huge pool of winners of which will receive the top prize and this month it went to Helen from our Social Policy team! Helen was recognised for providing excellent service to our customers along with identifying a process change to make our customer journey even better!
On the theme of customer service, this month we attended the Business Leader Awards at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol. We were there as a finalist for the Customer Excellence Award and I couldn’t have been more proud to be representing #TeamPelican with leaders from across our business.
We were up against some stiff competition and unfortunately, we did not take home the gold this year however just to be named as a finalist is a true representation of all the hard work our customer service teams put in every day to provide first class, memorable experiences to our customers!
Our local community is something close to the heart of many us and every year our team have the opportunity to take a day out of work to support a charity or cause of their choice. Throughout September many of our people volunteered to help in the Great British Beach Clean organised by The Marine Conservation Society. Those who volunteered ventured to Portishead and Weston to help clear the beaches of rubbish to make our seaside’s ship shape!
I am so proud to see our teamhelping our local community and I am looking forward to sharing some exciting plans that the team already have in place for October!
I also want to give a big shout out to Lynne from our Contact Centre who raised funds for the Alzheimer’s Society by taking part in the Memory Walk as well as everyone involved in the Bristol half marathon who ran in rather arctic conditions! #Proud #NotAllHeroesWearCapes
September was full of fundraising activities and all across our business we went ‘back to school’ to raise money for our friends at Computershare who will be trekking 3,000 miles through Nepal to raise money for a hostel so local children can receive a better education!
I think you will agree that our team went the extra mile to really look the part and I am happy to say that no one ended up detention! 😉
Our star bakers also rose the surface this month as the team ‘Baked it or Faked it’ hosting a MacMillan Coffee Morning raising money to help people living with cancer live life as fully as they can! Thank you to everyone across #TeamPelican for another fantastic month of achievements!
