November

I am always overwhelmed by the amount of time, effort and money that the team put in to support our local community and charities throughout the country. Supporting the community is my theme for this month’s blog and the team have been extremely busy raising funds for causes close to their hearts.

Before I share the amazing things our team have been up to, I was very excited to receive news that Pelican Business Services have been shortlisted for the ‘Distinction in Innovative Recruitment and on-boarding Initiatives’ category at the HR Distinction Awards. We have been shortlisted because of our state of the art corporate induction programme and first class welcome that we give to each and everyone one of our new team members! A big thank you to our amazing Learning and Development team for making this possible and I’m looking forward to celebrating the evening with the other finalists.

Kick starting my focus on the support provided to our community, earlier this month, Kyle from our External Liaison team was the first on the scene of a traffic collision. The lady involved was very distressed and was also travelling with her two young children. Kyle stayed with the family and provided support until an ambulance arrived to treat the lady for minor injuries. I am hugely proud of Kyle and want to say a big thank you to him for going above and beyond in his duties. #Proud

Our team are always putting their hands in their pockets to raise funds for various charities and November has been no different. I am thrilled to announce the donations have been counted for our spook-tacular Halloween fundraiser and we totalled an incredible £252.24 for our quarterly charity, Dementia UK. A fantastic day was had by all and included some of the best costumes I’ve seen in a long time!

Next on my list of community heroes this month is Lee from our Business Support Services department. He recently ran 10k to raise money and provide continued support for our last quarter’s charity, The West of England MS Therapy Centre. Lee managed to raise an impressive £175.00 for the charity while battling the chilly winter winds! #CommunityMatters

This month we also held one of our biggest fundraisers ever for Children in Need. With not one, not two, but three fancy dress themes, you couldn’t turn a corner without bumping into an 80’s icon or someone in their super hero pajamas. I am excited to announce that we raised a massive £513.10 which we couldn’t have done without the amazing organizational skills of our Health and Well-being team.

Finally on my long list of fantastic achievements this month, a big thank you and well done to Stella from our Social Policy team who along with a group of others, ran in remembrance in the Clevedon Poppy Run this month. This is a community 5K which Stella organizes where all money raised goes to the British Legion. This year they managed to raise a massive £700.00 which will go to providing lifelong support for the Armed Forces community.

I’d like to finish this month by sharing a photo of Nailsea United Football Club, who Pelican Business Services proudly sponsor, wearing their brand new Pelican football tops! Best of luck for your future matches, not that they need it I’m sure!
